The book of Proverbs talks about the characteristics of a virtuous woman:

How can we know a virtuous woman?
Virtuous women are not born virtuous, they are made through godly character and behavior to their own husband, home, and family.
According to 1Peter chapter 3, there are three main ways to recognize a virtuous woman.
Here is the first one:
- “A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband…” (Pro 12:4).
- “…Her price is far above rubies” (Pro 31:10).

Her Adorning
Although, different cultures have different standards on adornment for a woman.
But the Bible reveals two types of adornment in 1Pet 3:3-4:
The Outward Adorning is:
Which means, this type of adorning (outward adorning) does not make a woman virtuous.
The second type of adorning is in Vs 4:“But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.”
The Inner Adorning is:
This is because they make “a great price in the sight of God.”
So, in a nutshell:
- Outward Adorning - LET IT NOT BE the adorning for a virtuous woman
- Inner Adorning- LET IT BE the adorning for a virtuous woman

One has a great praise, honor, and approval by the world the other has a great price before God.
Great hair style, attractive make up, jewelries, fancy clothes and other material things are good for adorning, but are too fleeting, temporal, deceptive, and corruptible to make a virtuous woman, let alone a godly woman.
Paul in 2Cor 4:18 says, "For the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal."
A Virtuous Woman is a woman with inner adorning of a humble, gentle, and quiet character and behavior. She is a crown to her husband. "For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands" (1Pet 3:5).

- Putting on of apparel

- Inner Adorning- LET IT BE the adorning for a virtuous woman

- By your humble, gentle, quiet, character and behavior to your husband?
