Build the Wall, Build the people by Bola Olu-Jordan
Theme: Build the Wall, Build the People.
Text: Neh.4:1-6.
Sanballats will always hear about what you are doing.
The truth is that they are not happy with you
Some people have been here before you
Yet, they have not achieved what you achieved
They may smile and laugh and congratulate you
But their hearts is like an open sepulcher
The first weapon the enemy use is: FEAR
· But you have 365 ‘fear nots’ in the Bible:
· (1 per day). Have you used yours today?
· Tell your neighbour ‘Fear not’. ‘Don’t be afraid’.
· Whatever army of Pharaoh that is pursuing you, you will see them no more.
· The Egyptians you see today, you will see them no more
· That is the first message when an angel come to visit you.
· God will send big opportunities to you very soon, don’t be afraid.
· Joshua saw an angel and he drew out the sword:
· ‘Are you for us or against us’
· Even angels!
· Who will marry me? Will I ever make it in life? Will I survive? Will I get someone to assist me in life?
· Of course you will – if only you will not be afraid
· Tell yourself: ‘I will not be afraid’
Psa 91:7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
Psa 118:10 All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the LORD will I destroy them.
Don’t be intimidated by anything.
Someone is coming to marry you.
A business is coming your way.
An opportunity is coming your way
Rev 3:8 I know thy works: behold, I HAVE SET BEFORE THEE AN OPEN DOOR, AND NO MAN CAN SHUT IT
When the enemy asks you ‘HATH GOD SAID?
Or when he tells you you cannot make it
It’s either you say:
1. it is written,
2. thus saith the Lord
3. Get thee behind me, Satan
(Vs. 2) Sanballat: What do these feeble Jews? Will they fortify themselves?
Will they sacrifice? Will they make an end in a day?
Will they revive the stones out of the heaps of the rubbish which are burned?
And hence, they attack:
With who? Tobiah, etc. (Vs. 3, 7)
Sanballats, Tobiahs, etc, are ENEMIES WITHOUT
But there are also ENEMIES WITHIN Neh. 4:12
They want to: (vs. 10)
1. Come into your midst
2. Break your ranks
3. catch you unawares
4. weaken your mind and hands
5. cause divisions, disharmony, distrust, suspicion, lack of confidence,
6. Kill you
7. Cause the work to stop
How do you win them?
1. Fight them, not yourself through:
I. Prayers (vs. 9, Eph.6:12).
II. Setting a Watch (vs.14).
III. Resist the enemies without (Jas.4:7).
Fight issues, not personality. Devour the problem not yourselves.
2. Be one: there is strength in unity.
Don’t be divided. (Joshua 23:10, Deut.32:30)
3. Build the wall
4. Have the mind to participate. Don’t be an onlooker (vs.6).
The more you progress, the more angry they become
They are happy seeing you in tents and thatched roof
Success is a deterrent to progress
Don’t think you have arrived
This is just the beginning…
Sanballat become wrath
Why?
He was an indigene and could not achieve that type of success the Jews were achieving.
They are jealous that you dress well, eat well and you are not begging.
They want you to beg for food, dress, etc.
They want you to waste and wroth
They don’t want you to think about your future
They want you to be dependent on them,
No focus, no plan,
The Jews were in a foreign land but still knew that they could make it in life.
They were refugees, but refused to have a refugee spirit and mentality.
Refugee spirit and mentality is that we can’t make it
But God’s plan is that you can make it.
Who are Sanballats: Enemies of progress?
Acts 13:3-12: a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew, whose name was Barjesus
They will use people within against you
They will use people without against you
Gal 1:7: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert
the gospel of Christ. ‘But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel
unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed
Acts 13:10 And said, O full of all subtlety and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?
1Cor. 5:8 Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
Luk 12:1 In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people, insomuch that they trod one upon another, he began to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
