What do you call your spouse?
This question may sound somehow, but until couples get to the level of christening themselves would they begin to see the partner of their dream. The book of Proverbs says who can find a virtuous woman, so also who can find a noble man?
There is no virtuous woman anywhere; neither is there any noble man. Every man makes a virtuous woman from his wife and every woman makes a noble man from her husband. How? By christening your spouse! It is whatever name you call your spouse that is what your spouse will begin to manifest and answer, just like the name you call your child is the name everybody calls him or her. Similarly, whatever you call your situation or anything for that matter, that is begins to assume, good or bad because life and death lies in the power of your tongue (Prov.12:18, Prov. 15:2; Prov.18:21).
Many a time, we do call the situation what it appears to us, while that is natural, but we are supernatural beings and before we begin to experience extra ordinary occurrences in our lives and situations, we need to say words beyond the ordinary: not what we see, but what we want to see. Even God called what he wanted to see over the situation that obtained in creation: He said, let there be light, AND … He never complained, grumbled or murmur. You must discipline your mouth, not to confess what your eyes see, same with your spouse. Learn to speak what you want that person to be; stop confessing the problem; confess the solution. Faith calls the things that are not as if they are and they become.
Begin to call your spouse that what you dream of him or her becoming. Name is only given when there is no name. When your partner does not have a good name is the most beautiful time and opportunity for a christening and when he or she has a bad name is the best time for re-christening. How pleasant to the ears is a good name. “I know you will never change”, so he or she NEVER changes, why, because you said he or she will never change.
Speak creative words, not destructive ones. Speak life, not death. Carefully chose words that vividly describe, not necessarily the person you see now, but the person you wish to see.
This gives birth to what is called “pet names” in some homes. “Honey”; “Sugar”; “Sweet Heart”, “Darling”, “Special”, “Mine”,” Nkem”; “P.G”; “Angel”, etc. Do you have such for your spouse or you just call him “Johnson” or “Angela”? Such first names too are good, because it preserves the youthfulness of the couple and make them to see themselves as that same ‘guy’ or ‘lady’, even at old age, but when something means much more than ordinary to you, you will know there is a reason for re-christening because it is only you that can give the best name of what your spouse mean to you.
What name do you call your spouse: “a never do well”, “lazy”, “irresponsible”, “selfish”, “tyrant”, “dirty”, “unreasonable”, “witch”, “devourer”, “cheat”, “son-of-a-bitch”, etc. Do you really expect him or her to act or behave contrary to all these? Then, you must be a joker!
